Prescient words indeed, from the new Freedom Candlemaker composition “Gold”. This is popsong as ruminative daydream. Hazier than a dusky summer’s eve, the slow melody echoes fantastic mirages, drifts through some inner space. Fear and hope in equal measure, taking a chance, transformation… there’s just something quite out of the ordinary about “Gold”, I’m mesmerised. One thing I’m sure of, you won’t hear many more interesting songs this year. It’s out now on Louvana Records.
“I wanted to invoke a sense that we are not alone in our challenges; that we are all in this together and everyone is equally important, loved, as well as hurt and confused. It’s meant to be a soothing song; a reminder to be open to being loved”, explains Freedom Candlemaker.
The video is directed by Andreas Dimitriou of White Leaf Pictures. It’s an evocative and arresting piece, perfectly in tune with the tune (so to speak).
