Super World Indie Tune Of The Day 05.12.2019: Jetstream Pony – “I Close My Eyes”.
As I was crawling into my tree-bark hideaway for the winter what should I hear but the faint chimes of “I Close My Eyes” squirrelling their way along the forest floor? Jetstream Pony have the happy knack of producing utterly brilliant pop tunes, almost at the drop of a hat, and this is no exception. Beth’s voice is beautifully eternal and there is a lovely warm sixties vibe to the song which reminds me of The Monkees and even a wee bit Jefferson Airplane. It’s the kind of tune that makes you feel glad to be alive, even if you do sleep for three months of the year. As usual, it’s out on the Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten label and the band are on tour with The Wedding Present as we speak. Marvellous. Now I can close my eyes – to sleep perchance to dream, accompanied by eine kleine nachtmusik.
