And so we move on from massive organs to huge gongs, and not just any old huge gongs either but to those in the possession of none other than Notwist’s Markus Acher. “Wake Up The Dormouse” is the result of a collaboration between photographer/musician Johannes Maria Haslinger (Zitronen Püppies), Markus and Cico Beck (Aloa Input). Johannes has been working on a project with images and sound material collected by him in Nepal. In addition to many photographs, he also collected field recordings of street musicians and ambient sounds during his travels, which he now complements with his own improvisations in collaboration with Markus Acher and Cico. Markus mainly plays drums, Haslinger violin and tuba and Cico works his unusual magic with electronic sounds and percussion. The result is serene, hypnotic and breathtakingly beautiful.
