Safetalk – Mimic
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
Let’s hope he is right. At the moment, the arc is perhaps bent a little out of shape but when we stand back and look at the continuum over a longer period and from a greater distance we truly see the direction of travel. It is said also that after every great leap forward there is a reactionary backlash, but again that backlash awakens those who believe in progress to mobilise against the reactionaries and so it continues. The new single from Safetalk is, perhaps, just such a mobilisation. It is, in my opinion, their best song yet, adding layers of complexity to their blissful electronic landscapes, and shades of darkness and urgency to their undoubted positivity. I love the feeling it gives of being lost in space, the swirling keyboards and of course the message. They say “Mimic” (released on Splinter) is..” a psychic call to arms against the forces that seek to limit and contain us, ‘Mimic’ takes aim at those who seek to build walls around both our hearts and minds and our physical selves.”. Now do we know anyone who is big on building walls?…let me think…while I mull that over we are delighted ot have done an interview with David Harks and will be publishing that before the end of the month. He’s pretty good at the auld drawing too.
