How Bones Sloane became a bass player rather than a drummer is anyone’s guess. In the new video for Jen Cloher’s magnificently low-key “Regional Echo”, director Annelise Hickey follows Bones on a visit to his family in the town of Goulburn, so it’s like “The Sloane Ranger” if you will? You won’t? The song itself it a rumination on small town existence, the slow-motion ennui of a life seemingly lived in aspic, surrounded by small minds and squinting windows.

As well as making music, Jen runs Melbourne’s Milk! Records with her wife, up-and-coming artist, Courtney Barnett (watch out, you’ll probably hear about her soon!) who also plays on Jen’s new self-titled album. SWIT – finger on the pulse. Oh yes!
