Megative – More Time

What a joy this song is from Magative. The band consists of Tim Fletcher, formely of Montreal’s the Stills, producer Gus Van Go (Arkells, Whitehorse, Hollerado), songwriting duo Like Minds (Jesse Singer and Chris Soper) and Jamaican-born dancehall maestro Screechy Dan.

“More Time” mixes ska, reggae, dub and trip-hop and it has to be one of the singles of the year thus far. Dark, chilled, but never complacent, the tune laments wasted youth and recalls the halcyon days of 2 Tone (we were there!). Sweet sweet production, a KILLER chorus and a super atmospheric video (Shot on 16mm film by director Sean Cartwright) all add up to A SWIT HIT, and today’s SWIT HAT is definitely a Pork Pie! File under “very special”.
