The Week 07052017: The 17 best tracks from the last 7 days.

It’s been a slow day here at SWIT Towers, I got up and 6 am and 5 hours later its 6.15. You know what I mean. The weather is pristine, the sky is blue and my face is green. Very Irish. Remind me again why drinking 4 bottles of finest Lidl white plonk (only 3 quid a pop) seemed like a good idea last night (or early afternoon yesterday). I woke up in a pool of my own vom. Well, I presume it was mine, I didn’t finger-print it (the old jokes are the best).

I rolled out of bed onto the floor and fell down the stairs. So here I am, bleary-eyed, sore all over, trying to think of something to write but nothing comes. Nothing works, as Catweazle used to say. I look like him too. I light another cigarette, squint at the dazzling river, boaters in boater hats merrily woo and cajole as the brittle laughter of comorants drifts across Dublin bay. I pray for rain. I pray for release. I pray for releases – 17 in fact, including 3 SWIT Swemieres – check out Mimicof, Tatran, Noa May, Attic Giant, The Rebels Of Tijuana, EYE, David Leo, Jecynn, Sepalot & Napoleon Dynamite, CHEEKBONES/Chkbns, Crystal Cities, Dog Whistle, Crusader de Deus, Cajsa Siik, Sione and Clémentine March!

We took the bull by the horns and got LIVE with the mighty mighty Antlers on KEXP!

“We all probably had a dream that someday we would be in a band. When we found each other from high school the dream came true as we started to play together. Music has always been a very important part of our lives”

Yes! It’s our interview with the indie girls from The Wrecking Queens – their new EP is totally bending my banana.

Our Long Player Of The Week is The Holy Mountain by the supremely talented Derry band The Barbiturates.

This week’s pre-loved interview is from the fast becoming legendary amiina. We interviewed them around the release of their last album Fantoms, which was easily one of my favourite discs of 2016. As well as answering some questions on the LP ,Maggi mentioned some artists she’s fans of including Tómas Jónsson , Kött Grá Pje and Bill Frisell’s Music. It’s SWIT Swoons bringing the tunes from the Royal Troon all the way to Bonnydoon. And not too soon.

Oh well, back to the drawing board, I’m sure I’ll think of something soon, I pour a glass of Chateau LePiss 2017, roll another cigrette and step out into  the light. Sunday bloody Sunday it is.
