Time is money, isn’t it? Is it? So screw the long introductions today, I mean I’ve been doing everything around here. A small team. Does one person count as a team? What do you think. Not that anyone cares. Just bring the tunes they say. Stop bloody maoning they say. turn off the lights they say. put on this leather gimp mask…er…anyway, it;s another great week of music, even if I do say so myself and I do, I so do…check out 15 great tracks from Fresh Snow, Luna Green, Talk Show Host, Giovanni Ferrario Alliance, Lia Pamina, King Bones, Los Nastys, Elementary Penguins, Sale Gosse, Haemolacria, Cazzi Opeia & Jin X Jin, Nilein, Taxidermist, The Hubschrauber and Soft !

Here’s another excellent UK act from the Elefant roster, namely Cardiff’s The School. This is a live set they did for Spain’s Radio3 and TVE2 last year. IMO The School have graduated with a 1st class honours degree in pop. See what I did there?!?!?!!?
” I love listening to music, and hearing music I don’t like makes me write more! I’m working on new songs for The Yearning, Lia has more material of mine out this summer, I’m making an album of French synthpop, doing a surf-noise-pop EP (all for Elefant) and have just finished an 80s synthwave project. And there are plenty of other projects I haven’t mentioned or remembered that I’m going to be working on! I love the variety.”
Yes! It’s our interview with Joe Moore of The Perfect Kiss, The Yearning and Lia Pamina. This man is a tune genius.
SWIT’s Long Player of the week is Mirror Mirror by Le Millipede.
We said “I’m not (or was not) that familiar with Le Millipede , so “Mirror Mirror” is my real introduction, I guess it’s an oblique way to get to know someone’s music, through an album of remixes. Who are you getting to know? As it turns out, a slew of wonderful artists – some well-known to me and loved (Joasihno, Protein, Le Roy) and some newly and happily discovered. Take Hannes Hajdukiewicz for a start, on opening track, Rote Laterne (Red Lantern), the moody soundtrack to a fifties film noir – Hump flicks a cigarette to the kerb, pulls up his collar and strides away down a lonesome, rainswept street, sirens blaring in the distance. The game is afoot on 1115’s remix of Die jährlichen Winde, but they’re toying with you, there’s no escape. Happy Planter comes out like a modern day Ghost Town. And so it goes on, a journey through sound – dub, ska, reggae, jazz, electronica and more and more. Scores for movies yet to be made. A history of an imaginary city in all it’s seedy glory, a paean to the underground, teeming with life, but not as we know it. What shines through? The respect of the collaborators and the care taken by each – it makes for an exciting trip.”
