SWIT Long Player of the week: Jaune by Jaune

Ghost In The Machine – Jaune by Jaune

We featured the last couple of releases by Jaune. Now here is his new self-titled LP, released on La Souterraine (it’s called “Procession” on Spotify). It really is a thing of wonder – eight fantastic tunes, any of which would make excellent singles. The record is peopled (?) by nagging, insistent mutli-layered electronic heartbeats, distorted vocals, ghostly pianos and a multitude of tiny, beautiful, addictive hooks. If anything each song is stronger than the last, the final two tracks being my favourites – the uplifting Quai Branly and the altogether darker Seasons – it took me a while to figure out what was different about it and after several listens I realised it was sung in English.  Give it a spin now, it’s a keeper. I LOVE THIS RECORD. [Stop shouting. Ed.]
