My Imaginary Loves formed in Toulouse in 2010. Consisting of members Christèle – Drums,Pauline – Bass Voice and Stéphanie – Guitar Voice,they released their first EP,Unemotional, in 2012 on Dead Bees Records. Few caught up with them recently on the release of their excellent debut album – Faces – to discuss the artists and music that influence their captivating sound.
What was the first tune you loved, and why?
Lulluby by The Cure. The first tune I really really loved. That was so different from all the other songs that were playing on radio or tv.
What is your favourite song/piece of music that you’ve written and why?
The anxieties of big data. We managed to strike some kind of balance with a variety of influences and make our own stuff.
How do you know when a tune you’ve written is complete?
When we’re having a blast playing it !
What song by another artist do you wish you had written and why?
Bull In The Heather by Sonic Youth.
What artist(s) has been your biggest influence?
PJ Harvey.
Name a song that makes you happy and why does it have that effect?
The knife “Pass it on”, it’s a song that makes us happy and that makes us dance too !
What is the best new band that you’ve heard recently?
Speedy Oritz. It’s not really a new band but we saw them a few months ago for the first time.
What song would you like to have played at your funeral?
Is this desire ? (PJ Harvey)
Who would you love to support you on your next tour?
Our friends from “Birdie Steptoe”. We toured with them in Spain last month and we had a great time !
